Invitation for participation in public consultation | European Standards of Care for Newborn Health 2023

The European Foundation for the Care of Newborn Infants (EFCNI) cordially invites you to take part in their public consultation for the European Standards of Care for Newborn Health (ESCNH) 2023.

The public consultation, as part of the revision of the ESCNH, gives supporting healthcare associations, parent organisations, ESCNH partners and the greater public the chance to provide feedback on 76 standards, which are currently in need of an update. The aim is to ensure that the standards are still in line with most recent evidence and to improve quality.

The online questionnaires for the public consultation are open until 30 June 2023 and the surveys can be accessed per topic and standard >> here.

Standards in the following topics are in need of an update:

  • Birth and transfer
  • Care procedures
  • Data collection and documentation
  • Education and training
  • Ethical decision-making and palliative care
  • Follow-up and continuing care
  • Infant- and family-centred developmental care
  • Medical care and clinical practice
  • NICU design
  • Nutrition
  • Patient safety and hygiene practice

For reasons of transparency, all responses will be published anonymously after the standard was updated on the ESCNH website. However, you can request that your contribution will not be published, when stating ample justification.

Please feel free to contact EFCNI at standards@efcni.org in case you have any questions.

Thank you very much in advance for your support!
