Charles C. Roehr has been awarded the Niilo Hallman Medal by the Finnish Paediatric Society

Professor Charles C. Roehr (former President of the European Society for Paediatric Research, Neonatal Doctor, Clinical Consultant Advisor to the NPEU-CTU and University of Bristol Chair for Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine) has been awarded the Niilo Hallman Medal for Outstanding Achievements in Paediatrics by the Finnish Paediatric Society. The medal was presented during the Annual Finnish Paediatric Meeting in Helsinki on 5–6 February 2026 by Prof. Mikko Hallman, son of Niilo Hallman, and one of the most eminent researchers in the field of Paediatrics. It is noteworthy that Niilo Hallmann was a founding member of the ESPR.

During the meeting, Prof. Roehr delivered an invited lecture entitled "Non-invasive ventilatory support in preterm neonates today" addressing an audience of paediatricians from a broad range of subspecialties and levels of training. His presentation focused on recent advances and current evidence in respiratory support for very preterm infants.

The Niilo Hallman Medal recognises internationally recognised contributions to paediatric research and clinical practice. The award ceremony was followed by a reception hosted by the former Dean of the University of Helsinki and the Medical Director of the New Children's Hospital (Uusi Lastensairaala), part of Helsinki University Hospital (HUS).

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Roehr on this outstanding achievement!
